Our Story
Sweet Jennie’s was founded out of the love for family, friendship, fellowship and community that two friends shared from their early teens through adulthood. Nikki & Jennifer were best friends for over 35 years seeing each other through lots of life experiences. One of their best loved times was to be with family & friends at holidays, church gatherings, pot lucks, showers, celebrations and re-passes (the meal with the family after a funeral). One thing you could ALWAYS count on being present at a Southern gathering of loved ones was a “good ole fashioned”, fresh baked, moist, dense pound cake!

Traditional scratch made pound cake has been a staple on food buffet dessert tables in the South for generations. The chase for the ONE lead Nikki & Jennifer to a decade’s long friendly completion over who’s heirloom pound cake recipe was THE ONE. Years of pound cake baking, sharing, tasting and testing lit a fire under the Duo to open a Pound Cake Bakery or “Poundcakery”, if you will.
Two friends birthed a dream that only one would be able to carry out. In 2021, we lost our dear sweet Jennifer at age 48 to a battle with both breast cancer and leukemia, it was the worst. Somehow through the pain of loss and grief, as a family, we celebrated her life in many ways, including eating pound cake. Today, Nikki carries on the dream for herself and for Jennifer. She describes Jennifer as the kindest, most loving soul that she was blessed to share her life with. The motivation to make Sweet Jennie’s a success is twofold, 1) the world is a better place with the joy and excitement that a delicious scratch-made pound cake can bring. 2) a portion of every pound cake sold will be donated to responsible, legitimate cancer research programs that are working tirelessly to find a cure for the dreadful disease that has taken so many loved ones from our world. Not to mention the world is a much better place with Jennifer's memory in it. My Dear Sweet Jennie…. THIS IS FOR YOU!!
